The Seymour Digital Media website was designed using the WordPress content management system, and was developed as a custom WordPress theme.
Below, I have outlined the design and coding processes for this project. Though, if you have any questions about this project you are welcome to contact me directly. Otherwise, I encourage you to review some other examples of my work!
Before the design process began, the client informed us of her major priorities: To include a pop out video within the header of each page and to have a way to sort Seymour Digitals' various sources of media content
Working in light of these requests, the concept design of this custom WordPress theme began on a white board before low-fidelity inVision and high-fidelity Adobe XD mock-ups, and style guides, were provided to the client.
This portion the the development process was concluded within ≈ 9 business days.
This website required the creation of several custom post types, which included the clients About, Services, and Contact pages. The developmental responsibilities were divided among 4 developers, and and was managed via a GitHub repository.
Much of the content on these pages, and throughout the website, are processed via ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) Repeater plugins. Examples of such content include the content hosted on the Services page, or the How We Work steps on the About Us page.
This Custom WordPress theme was completed, and launched, within approximately 6 weeks. It is currently live at seymourdigitalmedia.com
I continue to work with this client in updating the styles and features found on this website, as the company further develops into the future.
This project provided a great deal of opportunities for me to develop as both a WordPress and PHP developer. I have had the opportunity to work with the WordPress functions and plugins, experiment with complex while and foreach loops.
Working with a small team, it was important to learn how to quickly resolve and avoid GitHub merge conflicts, and to appropriately allocate responsibilities throughout throughout the production cycle.
While I enjoyed freelancing, and continue to work with this client as a contractor, I feel that I would much rather the company of other developers in an office environment, on a daily basis.
